What it does
Recollective supports asynchronous and live qualitative research, including digital diaries, interviews, discussions and communities. Its platform includes screening, participant engagement and analysis features.
For a diary study, use a Journal Activity so participants can return to the same tasks more than once. Set its start and end dates, minimum required responses and instructions, then choose the Journal Type. A scheduled journal asks for entries at a fixed interval; an unlimited journal lets people respond when the relevant event occurs.
For example, an unlimited journal can collect a screen recording and description each time someone encounters a problem in an app. Set the required entry count to zero if reporting should be optional. Journal responses can be reviewed with charts, multimedia summaries and excerpts; exported transcripts retain entry dates and timestamps.
Recollective sells annual licences and individual project access. Published starting estimates for an annual licence are:
| Product | Starting price with annual licence | Scope of starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Qual Live + Async | US$750 per month | Ten participants |
| Live Only | US$475 per month | Base annual licence |
| Connect | US$1,250 per month | Entry community tier |
Participant count, study length and extra features affect the final quote.
Choose the product carefully. Connect manages an ongoing panel and community but does not include study activities. Live Only excludes asynchronous research and limits each focus group to 25 participants. Qual Live + Async includes both methods. Each research administrator needs a separate account.
Strengths
- A journal can follow either a fixed schedule or participant-triggered events.
- Transcript exports distinguish when an entry was submitted from the date assigned to it.
Watch out for
- Connect does not include research study activities.
- Live Only excludes asynchronous activities and has a 25-participant limit per focus group.
Best for
- Researchers running digital diaries or ongoing qualitative communities
