What it does
Reelin’ in the Years licenses music performances, interviews and related footage from represented television and independent archives. Its searchable database leads into a staff-assisted screener and master-supply process.
Search an artist, interview guest or song title to establish what may be held. Enquire even when a result is absent: newly acquired footage may not yet be in the database. Research assistance is free.
Email the project description, requested material, phone number and contact address. The team supplies a folder of screeners with a detailed log sheet. Burnt-in timecode and library tape numbers identify the passages to request as masters. The public website deliberately does not provide playable archive footage.
Licensing is quoted for the required media, territory and term, such as streaming in North America for five years. Material is supplied only for entertainment-industry client projects, excluding personal collecting, school projects and research-only listening.
Strengths
- Screeners include timecode, tape references and detailed logs.
- Staff research can cover footage not yet listed in the database.
Watch out for
- The archive supplies entertainment-industry projects, excluding personal and school use.
- Footage previews must be requested from the team.
Best for
- Documentary and entertainment producers licensing performance or interview footage
