What it does
REI Co-op sells outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment for activities including hiking, camping and snowsports. Its store also links to practical outdoor advice and outlet selections.
REI's activity-led shopping is a useful way to prepare a focused equipment list. A winter walk, a camping trip and a day on the slopes require different purchases, so choose the activity before comparing brands. The homepage also links to advice on essentials and hiking apps when the shopping question starts with what to bring.
Outlet selections provide another browsing route, while store pickup is among the shopping options described. The co-op's rewards have eligibility conditions, including distinctions around full-price purchases. Decide whether a particular item meets your needs before counting a promotional reward as a saving.
Membership changes the ordinary return window: REI states one year for most member purchases and 90 days for non-members, with outdoor electronics limited to 90 days for everyone. Check the specific return exceptions before buying a GPS device, activity monitor or other specialist equipment.
