What it does
Renderpeople supplies scanned digital people for visualization and production. Its catalogue distinguishes static posed figures, rigged characters, animated people and volumetric 4D sequences. Commercially usable samples are free without registration, alongside paid models and bundles.
Renderpeople separates four ways to populate a scene. Posed people hold a scanned pose; rigged people include a skinned skeleton and controls; animated people carry cleaned motion capture baked onto the skeleton. The 4D products instead supply moving mesh and texture sequences, so they do not depend on a reusable character rig.
The free selection makes those differences tangible. Current posed samples use 50,000-polygon meshes and 4K PBR textures. Rigged samples use roughly 10,000 to 15,000 retopologized quads, while the 4D samples run at 30 frames per second with a centimetre unit setup.
Choose a product type and then its download format. Posed samples offer native application and exchange options including Blender, USD, FBX, OBJ and GLB; 4D files include Alembic. Availability differs by product family. Free downloads require no registration and can be used commercially under the same standard terms as paid models.
Those terms cover still images, animation and real-time rendering, but prohibit exposing extractable model files or transferring the assets to outside parties without permission. Computer-vision research and machine-learning use need separate authorization. Fixed posed models also remain a different delivery from characters that can be reposed.
Strengths
- Free samples cover several static and moving human-asset workflows.
- Format options include native scene setups and common exchange files.
Watch out for
- Posed people have fixed poses rather than reusable character rigs.
- Standard terms prohibit exposing or transferring the reusable model files.
Best for
- Adding people to architectural scenes
- Choosing human assets for stills or motion
