What it does
The American Rhododendron Society provides plant care, a searchable database, a nursery finder and journal material. Its scope includes both rhododendrons and azaleas.
The plant database and care guide answer different questions. Use the database when researching a candidate plant, then turn to the care material for the growing context. The society's guide covers the sequence from selection and planting through later maintenance, while journal archives explore topics such as companion plants and breeding. That gives a gardener room to move beyond a single cultivar description. Begin with the known plant name or the conditions of the intended site. Seasonal seed offers and other announcements are separate activities whose current details should be read on their own pages.
Cultivar records can be compared by flower traits, bloom timing, ten-year height, hardiness and parentage. The detailed descriptions warn that bloom time, growth and cold tolerance are approximate and depend on conditions; use those fields as selection guidance rather than a promise for a particular garden.
