What it does
Rijksmuseum Collection Online connects artworks with books, historical context and visitor stories. Most artwork images are free to download, with public-domain or CC0 notices identifying those available for commercial reuse.
Search by subject or artist, switch to Artworks, then narrow results by maker, period or material. The plus icon at the top right of an item opens options to download, collect or compare works. Visual search can help find related shapes and details.
The standard downloads are JPEGs averaging 4,500 × 4,500 pixels. For professional print work, the image-request form also offers free high-resolution TIFFs with a colour reference. Images unavailable through these routes may carry a charge.
Read the object’s copyright notice before reuse. The museum asks for the credit “Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam” and recommends obtaining its latest file because photography is regularly improved.
