What it does
RiDoc and related Riman tools scan and recognize documents, create PDF or image outputs, and make image-based PDFs searchable. The catalogue includes Windows and Linux offerings.
Use RiDoc with a TWAIN-compatible scanner for paper acquisition, ADF batches and PDF or TIFF output. The linked version 5 page offers a 30-day full-feature trial. The version 6 page describes final testing and a changed save interface: Word output is RTF, and PDF-OCR adds searchable text to scans. Printing, email and some folder features are temporarily absent from version 6. For an existing image-based PDF, the family also offers the free PDF-ST utility; Linux scanning uses the separate RiDocLNX application.
Strengths
- Offers distinct acquisition and existing-PDF recognition routes.
Watch out for
- The version 6 release page describes final testing and temporarily missing printing, email and folder functions.
