What it does

RootData organizes crypto projects, people and investors into linked profiles, funding histories and market dashboards. Its public website can be browsed without signing in. A free Basic API plan and paid Plus or Pro plans provide structured data for applications and research reports.

Start with a project name, token or investor, then use its linked profiles to follow the team and funding history. A funding round records capital raised by a project; it is separate from the token's traded market value or an ETF's subscriptions and redemptions.

The dashboard lets you compare funding counts with funding amounts and view categories over selected periods. Check each panel's period before combining numbers. On the homepage, the top range selector changes core metric comparisons and trends only; it does not update every section below it.

API allowances

Plan Monthly credits Request rate Published endpoint count
Basic, free 1,000 60 per minute Four
Plus, paid 5,000 60 per minute Eight
Pro, paid 30,000 100 per minute 21

For an integration, first search by project, investor or person to obtain RootData's identifier. A project-detail request then accepts either that ID or a contract address. Optional fields request team or investor information, but some detailed fields require Pro. The project-detail request costs two credits; the balance lookup is free.

Use the returned entity type and RootData page link to check that a matching name refers to the project you intended. This is particularly useful when a token name resembles an investor or person. API requests use an issued key, and the selected plan determines which fields are returned.

Strengths

  • Project, investor and people profiles show relationships that a price table does not capture.
  • The API returns stable identifiers and links back to the matching RootData profile.

Watch out for

  • The homepage range selector affects only its designated metric panels.
  • Detailed team and selected project fields require the Pro API plan.

Best for

  • Researchers following a crypto project from its investors to its team and funding rounds
  • Developers enriching asset profiles with structured project context
