What it does

Rotato presents app and website screens in configurable 3D device images and animations. Its Mac app offers camera, background, shadow and reflection controls, while a separate browser version is available in public beta.

In the Mac app, choose Devices in the Templates window and open a model. Drag a screenshot onto its display, or choose media through Screen in the device inspector. Camera changes the overall view; Position & Scale moves the selected device. Set its color or Clay finish, adjust Background, then click Image to save a still.

Video workflows support PNG frame sequences and ProRes 4444 with transparency for further editing. Mac installation requires macOS 11 or newer.

Mac purchase Device and update scope
Basic Phone mockups; six months of included updates
Standard All listed devices and selected templates; twelve months of updates
Premium All listed devices and the larger template collection; twelve months of updates

These Mac licences use one payment and retain access to eligible versions. Later updates and newly released devices can require renewal. Rotato Web instead offers monthly or annual subscriptions with watermark-free image/video exports and 2K video.

The Mac trial adds watermarks and is licensed for evaluation. Paid mockup output can be used commercially.

Strengths

  • Snapshot All iPhone Sizes can prepare multiple App Store image sizes in one action.
  • Presentation mode moves between animation keyframes during a live presentation.

Watch out for

  • Installing a newer Mac app version does not extend the device-access period included in a licence.
  • The trial licence covers evaluating the app, rather than unrestricted production use.

Best for

  • Creating a controlled 3D presentation of an app screen
