What it does

RudderStack combines SDK-based event collection, transformations, tracking plans and destination routing. Its hosted platform also offers warehouse-based profiles and activation capabilities on larger arrangements.

RudderStack collects customer events once, applies transformations and sends them to connected tools or a warehouse. Tracking plans help teams keep event names and properties consistent.

Inspect a first page event

Sign in and open Connections > Add source, then select JavaScript. Copy the source's setup snippet, including its write key and data-plane URL, into the website's page head. With SDK v3, add the separate rudderanalytics.page() call for page tracking. The source's Live Events view shows received events and transformation results or errors.

A destination is configured separately through Add destination, using that service's connection settings. Its Live Events view helps check delivery rather than assuming that receiving an event at the source proves it reached the next tool.

Plan Published starting event allowance Warehouse sync interval
Free 250,000 events/month 3 hours
Growth 1 million events/month 30 minutes
Enterprise Custom volume 5 minutes

Free access continues without an expiry and supports 10 team members. Processing stops after a second consecutive month above its event allowance. A 30-day Growth trial is also available.

Strengths

  • Standardizes collection and transformations before routing to several tools.
  • Provides a permanent hosted free tier.

Watch out for

  • Free warehouse synchronization runs on a three-hour interval.
  • Repeated free-tier event overages can stop processing.

Best for

  • Data teams aligning event definitions across analytical destinations
