What it does
Microns is Stephen Hutchings’ compact icon collection for user interfaces. It includes individual SVG files, font formats, CSS and Sass stylesheets, plus a JSON map of icon classes and character codes.
Search the project page by icon name or keyword, then choose the SVG or font route. Install microns from npm, or get the files from its repository. For the font, load fonts/microns.css with the font files beside it; combine the mu class with a symbol class such as mu-arrow-left. Individual artwork is in the svg directory.
The set includes arrows, media controls, text formatting and other common interface actions. Smaller inline symbols have an i- prefix and are drawn to sit beside text without thinning their strokes. Icon widths vary; use CSS if a row needs fixed-width positions.
Licensing follows the delivered format. SVG artwork uses CC BY-SA 4.0: credit the creator, identify changes and include the licence; shared adaptations need the same or a compatible share-alike licence. The font uses OFL, and other code uses MIT. Modified fonts must respect the reserved Microns name.
