What it does
Sandboxie runs Windows applications in an isolated environment, with Classic and Plus interfaces and component-specific licences.
Sandboxie's isolated environment is useful when an application should not make ordinary persistent changes to the host's files. The current project maintains Classic and Plus builds, with new development centered on Plus. Choose how files are recovered from the sandbox before starting work inside it. A recovered document crosses the boundary back to the host and deserves its own review. Sandbox isolation is a defined control, not an assurance that every untrusted program can be run without risk.
Plus uses a custom licence for SandMan, with a business certificate required for commercial use and a limited evaluation allowance. Its core remains GPLv3; the whole Plus package should not be treated as one unrestricted open-source licence.
