What it does

Santander UK combines online and mobile banking for payments, account statements and card administration. My Money Manager provides spending insights, while pending transactions remain visible alongside completed purchases. Its Everyday Current Account has no monthly fee or minimum monthly funding requirement.

A misplaced Santander Mastercard can be frozen from Manage Cards, found in the app’s shortcuts or More Options. Select the card, tap Freeze card, read the warning and confirm. The same route provides Unfreeze card when it turns up.

Freezing a card does not stop Direct Debits, standing orders, refunds or subscriptions. Santander also offers separate controls for contactless, international, online and gambling transactions. These distinctions matter when the aim is to block a particular kind of purchase rather than suspend every use of the card.

For account administration, the app handles new payees, payment limits and standing orders. My Money Manager shows spending insights, and the transaction view includes pending entries. Statements are available digitally with a paper-free option.

Everyday Current Account costs and access

The Everyday account has no monthly maintenance fee and no minimum monthly funding requirement. An approved arranged overdraft carries variable interest, so the absence of a monthly account fee does not make borrowing free.

Applicants must be at least 18 and live permanently in the UK, with proof of identity and address. After an account is opened, digital-banking registration uses card details or an account number and sort code. The mobile app then uses those logon details.

Strengths

  • Separate card controls and payment limits allow specific changes without replacing an account.
  • Pending transactions, spending insights and digital statements help explain the available balance.

Watch out for

  • Temporary card freezing does not stop recurring account payments or subscriptions.
  • The illustrated freeze-card route is limited to Mastercard.

Best for

  • UK adults looking for an everyday account without a monthly fee
  • Santander customers managing payment limits and card permissions
