What it does

Scalapay offers installment payments at participating online and physical stores. Customers create an account, choose an available payment plan and pay the first installment when buying. Pay in 3 has no additional charge when paid on time; the four-payment option can carry a service fee.

At checkout or in a store

Choose Scalapay at an online checkout and sign in or register. In a participating physical store, the app can generate a barcode for the cashier. Some merchants also send a payment link by text or email. The first payment is immediate, with the rest due monthly: Pay in 3 ends two months after the purchase, and Pay in 4 ends three months after it.

Account and payment controls

You must be at least 18 and may have only one active profile. The app's Purchasing Power figure estimates what an order might qualify for. It is not an approved credit limit, and an order below it can still be declined. The shop, card, order amount and payment history affect the decision.

Payment postponement is available in some circumstances, but the fourth installment cannot be postponed. A virtual card for physical-store purchases requires Scalapay Club membership.

Charges to check

Pay in 4 shows its service fee before confirmation. Late payments can also incur charges. Use the terms shown for the country and purchase to check the amount due; the no-extra-cost statement for Pay in 3 depends on paying on time.

Strengths

  • Payment reminders arrive before installment due dates
  • An online virtual card supports purchases at affiliated merchants

Watch out for

  • Purchasing Power does not guarantee purchase approval
  • The final Pay in 4 installment cannot be postponed

Best for

  • Adults comparing installment options at a participating retailer
