What it does
Scala Archives supplies art, architecture, history and design imagery alongside footage and audio. Its services include custom picture research, photographic reproduction and consultation on additional rights.
Scala’s collection routes cover subjects such as Art, Architecture, Cinema and Fashion. For a detailed artwork reproduction, the photo lab can prepare files for a large print or an enlarged detail; the site illustrates this with sections of Delacroix’s Liberty Leading the People.
When a search does not turn up the required image, open Content Search Requests. The form asks for the intended usage, deadline and a description, along with contact details. This research service is free for registered users, and the team can investigate material beyond readily available files or arrange a special photo shoot.
Photographic rights and other permissions are separate questions. Scala offers consultation on artists’ rights, depicted personalities and other third parties as part of planning a reproduction. A free research request does not itself license the resulting image.
