What it does
Screenity combines a free open-source Chrome recorder with a paid browser editor and sharing service. The editor arranges recordings into scenes, adds animated layouts and device frames, and turns clicks into adjustable zooms. Local extension recording needs no account; the hosted editor requires sign-in.
The free Chrome extension records a tab, window, screen region or camera. Draw arrows and text while recording, use live blur or a cursor spotlight, then trim or crop the clip and download it locally. This route needs no account.
In the paid editor, arrange separate scenes, switch screen-and-camera layouts and wrap the recording in a browser or device frame. Recorded clicks become editable zoom points: change when a zoom starts, how long it holds and how smoothly it moves. Captions are enabled in the properties panel, can be restyled and corrected, and currently support English.
The hosted plan offers a seven-day trial, recordings up to one hour and unlimited 1080p exports. The trial converts to a subscription unless cancelled; taxes may be added at checkout. It requires sign-in. Link sharing and the cloud editor are paid features; the free extension remains available separately.
The extension is GPLv3 open source; the hosted web application is proprietary. You retain your content rights. After a paid subscription ends, existing shared links work for 90 days before becoming private. Trial links stop when an unpaid trial ends, with those videos eligible for deletion after 30 days.
