What it does
Sculptura 2 is an iPad sculpting application built around volumes rather than polygon editing. Independent layers, custom brushes and material painting support character and form studies, with mesh and textured-model exchange for further work. It is sold as a one-time purchase without a subscription.
Each layer can use a different volume resolution. Tool Factory creates custom sculpting tools, while symmetry and masks control where a brush acts. The current Voxel Paint tool adds colour directly to the sculpt, and material controls include lighting and subsurface effects.
For a painting handoff, export USDZ with paint baked into textures, use Procreate or another painting app, then bring the colours back with Import Paint. The Generate UV Maps export setting controls automatic UV generation. Textured USD and USDZ imports carry colour into voxel paint; OBJ and STL are also supported for model import and export.
The app costs US$14.99 as a one-time purchase without a subscription. It is designed for iPad and Apple Pencil. An M1 or later iPad is recommended for the application and required for its path-tracing renderer.
Strengths
- Separate layers can have different volume resolutions.

Watch out for
