What it does
Google Search Console reports a site's Google Search impressions, clicks and query performance. It also provides indexing information, URL inspection, sitemap submission and alerts about detected site issues.
Search Console separates questions about your whole site from questions about one URL. Search Analytics shows the queries, impressions, clicks and positions associated with your pages. URL Inspection provides crawl and indexing details for a particular address. Sitemap submission and issue alerts help with ongoing site maintenance.
Connect a site you manage
Sign in with your Google account and add a property. A Domain property covers subdomains and both HTTP and HTTPS, but requires DNS verification. A URL-prefix property covers the specified address prefix and offers other verification methods.
For manual DNS verification, copy the supplied record into your domain provider's DNS settings, then return to Search Console and choose Verify. Keep the verification record in place afterwards. If you cannot change the required settings, an existing verified owner can grant access instead.
Search Console is free. It is useful for examining your own site's Google Search performance; access depends on proving ownership or receiving permission from an owner.
