What it does
SecureMyEmail provides encryption software for existing email accounts. It documents apps for Windows, Mac, Android and iOS, along with a recipient-link workflow for contacts who do not use the app.
SecureMyEmail connects to an established address rather than replacing it. Its software lists IMAP support as the requirement for general account compatibility and can run alongside an existing email setup. A recipient without the software uses a link to read and reply to a protected message.
The current pricing page makes the free boundary specific: one Gmail.com, Yahoo.com or Microsoft consumer address, including Outlook.com, Hotmail.com and MSN.com. Other personal or business addresses use the paid offer, with a 30-day trial that does not require payment details. This is different from offering free encryption for every custom-domain account.
Strengths
- Works with existing email addresses instead of requiring a mailbox move.
- A documented link workflow supports recipients without the app.
- Desktop and mobile apps are included.
Watch out for
- General account compatibility requires IMAP support.
Best for
- People who want encryption for an established personal or business address
