What it does
SerpApi provides search-result data across Google and other engines, returning structured results for use in custom tools, reports and automated research. Its Google interface exposes location, language, country, device and result-type controls.
SerpApi supplies search results to software you build. A Google request can specify query, location, country, language and device, with structured sections for organic links and other result features. Match these settings between runs when you need comparable observations.
Create an account and include its API key in requests. Check the response status and any error before using the result data. JSON suits application code; HTML and Markdown are alternatives when the original page or readable text is useful.
Identical parameter sets can return a cached result for up to an hour without using a search credit. Set no_cache for a new retrieval. That option cannot be combined with asynchronous requests.
| Plan | Searches per month | Hourly limit |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 250 | 50 |
| Starter | 1,000 | 200 |
| Developer | 5,000 | 1,000 |
| Production | 15,000 | 3,000 |
Only successful searches count, including successful searches with empty result sets. Errors and cache hits do not. The ongoing Free plan is useful for a small integration, but hourly capacity still matters when a reporting job sends many queries at once.
Strengths
- Exposes detailed geographic, language and device controls.
- Returns structured result sections alongside raw HTML and Markdown options.
Watch out for
- Identical searches can use an hour-old cache unless fresh retrieval is requested.
- Hourly throughput limits apply alongside the monthly search allowance.
Best for
- SEO developers building repeatable search-result collection and reporting
