What it does
Shawbrook provides personal and business savings alongside business and property finance. Its comparison pages filter accounts by access type and sort them by rate or term. Personal Easy Access accounts return withdrawals to a linked UK bank account.
Shawbrook’s savings comparison is useful when the date you need the money matters as much as the rate. Filter by account type, optionally show only ISAs, then sort by rate or term.
| Savings type | Access to the balance |
|---|---|
| Easy access | Request withdrawals without a notice period |
| Notice | Give the account’s required notice before withdrawal |
| Fixed-rate bond | Money remains committed until maturity |
Fixed-rate cash ISAs have different rules from bonds: early withdrawal is possible with an exit charge.
Using the standard Easy Access account
The standard personal account requires £1,000 and allows unlimited withdrawals of at least £1. Withdrawals go only to the linked bank account. Online requests received before 9:30pm on a working day should arrive the next working day, so access is not an instant card-spending balance.
On the older online interface, choose Requests → Withdraw money. Customers moved to the upgraded interface use Move money. New applicants choose monthly or annual interest before completing the online form. Existing customers log in and select Open a new account.
Applicants must be at least 18, permanently UK resident, liable only for UK tax and able to provide a linked UK bank account. An unfunded standard Easy Access account closes after 28 days. Its rate is variable and falls to a lower rate if the balance drops below £1,000.
Shawbrook also offers business savings without product fees or charges. Those accounts have separate balance requirements, starting at £1,000 for business easy access; personal fixed-rate ISA exit charges should not be confused with those business terms.
Strengths
- Filters distinguish access restrictions before an account is selected.
- The withdrawal guide covers both older and upgraded online interfaces.
Watch out for
- Standard Easy Access withdrawals return only to a linked account and normally arrive the next working day.
- Fixed-rate bonds restrict withdrawals until maturity.
Best for
- Eligible UK savers comparing access conditions and term lengths
- Businesses holding cash reserves in a separate savings account
