What it does

ShopBase provides a hosted storefront, product catalogue, checkout and order administration. Merchants can track individual variants, group products using collection rules and coordinate supplier fulfilment. Plans differ in staff accounts, connected domains and payment-provider fees; the trial lasts 14 days without a card.

A ShopBase product variation can have its own SKU, price, weight and stock quantity. This is useful for a shirt whose sizes sell at different rates or a catalogue imported from suppliers.

Track the variants and organize the catalogue

In Products > All products, open the product. Under Inventory policy, choose the option for ShopBase to track quantity and enter the stock count. For a variant, use its pen icon, change the same policy on the variant page and save the changes.

To build a rule-based collection, open Products > Collections > Create collection. Name it, select Automated and choose whether products must match all conditions or any condition. Conditions can use stock, vendor, price or product and variant titles. Save, inspect the resulting products, choose their display order and save again. An automated collection cannot later become manual.

CSV product transfers and bulk fulfilment support larger catalogues. Staff permissions restrict access to the administration area.

Monthly store plans

Plan USD per month, billed monthly Additional staff Domains per store Third-party provider fee
Basic 19 5 2 2%
Standard 59 10 10 1%
Pro 299 100 20 0.6%
Enterprise 1,999 Unlimited Unlimited 0.2%

Basic, Standard and Pro include one storefront; Enterprise includes six. The first three also offer lower monthly equivalents with annual payment. Additional storefronts cost extra, and the payment processor can charge its own fees.

The 14-day trial needs no card, but launching the store requires a plan and payment details. Enterprise is billed monthly and cannot be downgraded during its first twelve months.

Strengths

  • Variants can hold separate quantities and other sellable-item details
  • Automated collections can group products by stock, vendor and price

Watch out for

  • Third-party payment-provider fees are additional to the processor’s charges
  • An automated collection cannot be converted to a manual one
  • Enterprise downgrades are restricted for the first twelve months

Best for

  • Merchants managing variant catalogues and supplier fulfilment in a hosted store
