What it does

Shotcandy is a free, MIT-licensed screenshot presentation editor that runs in the browser without an account or image upload. It adds backgrounds, frames, annotations and redaction to screenshots or recordings. Batch styling, multi-screen compositions and App Store sets provide several ways to present a group of screens.

Drop or paste screenshots, or add a folder in Screenshot mode. Set a background, frame, shadow and size with All selected, then switch to This image for an individual adjustment. Captions, crops and redaction stay with their own image. A batch can contain up to 100 images on a computer or 30 on a phone.

Export all saves PNG, JPEG or WebP images at 1x to 4x in a ZIP while retaining filenames. Chrome and Edge on a computer can write directly to a chosen folder; phones can use the share sheet. Projects are stored in the browser, with file backups available for moving them elsewhere.

Under Screens, combine two to six screenshots in layouts such as Side by side, Hero or Fan. Recordings remain single-screen. MP4, MOV and WebM inputs can run up to ten minutes; trim the clip, remove sound if needed and export MP4, WebM or GIF. A recording must use a codec the browser can decode, with H.264 suggested for unsupported HEVC files.

All features are free, without watermarks. Exported images can be used commercially, and the project's wallpapers and frames are MIT licensed.

Strengths

  • Styles batches while retaining per-image adjustments and filenames.
  • Offers multi-screen compositions, redaction and recording export without paid feature gates.

Watch out for

  • Video input depends on the browser codec support and is limited to ten minutes.
  • Recordings cannot join multi-screen image layouts or screenshot batches.
  • Direct folder export requires desktop Chrome or Edge.

Best for

  • Preparing consistent screenshot sets and short framed recordings.
