What it does

Simple Icons collects SVG symbols for brands and distributes them through its website and packages. Icon data can include a brand color, source, guidelines and licence information.

Simple Icons is useful for a list of supported integrations or links to a project’s social profiles. On the website, click an icon’s download button to save its SVG. Follow the card’s licence and Brand Guidelines links before deciding how to display that brand. Missing metadata does not mean no restrictions apply.

For code, install simple-icons with npm and import the named icons you need. Each object provides the SVG, path, hexadecimal color and source URL, with guideline and licence fields where available. The package includes TypeScript definitions.

Pinning a package or CDN version makes changes more deliberate: a moving latest version can stop resolving if an icon is removed. Simple Icons releases its project under CC0, but individual brand assets may have other licences and trademark conditions. Its metadata is community maintained, so check the linked brand guidance for the use you have in mind.

Strengths

  • Provides brand colors and source metadata alongside the SVG.
  • Offers direct downloads, npm and PHP packages.

Watch out for

  • Individual brand rights can differ from the project licence.
  • A removed icon can break a CDN URL that follows the latest version.

Best for

  • Integration directories.
  • Brand links in product interfaces.
