What it does
SimpleLogin creates aliases that route messages to an existing mailbox and support replies from the alias. It also documents custom domains, multiple destination mailboxes and optional PGP encryption of forwarded mail.
An alias can be useful long before an inbox needs replacing. With SimpleLogin, give a website a separate address, receive the messages in your existing mailbox and reply through the alias. If that address starts receiving unwanted mail, it can be disabled independently.
Custom domains and multiple destination mailboxes make the routing more flexible than one shared forwarding address. For readers already using PGP, SimpleLogin can encrypt forwarded messages with a supplied public key. It remains a forwarding layer, so the destination mailbox and the alias service are separate parts of the arrangement.
For a new conversation, create a reverse-alias for the chosen alias and contact, then send to it from your own mailbox. That routing step differs from simply typing the public alias into the From field of an ordinary email client.
Strengths
- Replies can use the alias rather than expose the destination address.
- Custom domains and multiple mailbox destinations are supported.
- PGP encryption can be applied before forwarding.
Best for
- People who want distinct addresses without managing more inboxes
