What it does

dmMediaConverter is a cross-platform FFmpeg interface for stream conversion, copying, merging, splitting, metadata, and queued jobs. It supports profiles and multiple tracks within an output container.

The developer’s 2.4.1 guide starts with a job type and sources, then stream Enable/Copy choices. Copy bypasses re-encoding and disables encoding controls; picture filters require conversion. Separate audio/video profiles support reuse, with video profiles needed for bulk filters. Run now chooses a file whose extension selects the container; bulk jobs choose a directory. That guide describes matching-input copy merging, largest-source-width mixed merging and no direct DVD/Blu-ray/ISO ripping. The developer’s explicitly linked moved site instead lists 2.5.5 dated 9 February 2023 and adds chapter editing; the older guide is the source for these detailed controls.

Strengths

  • Distinguishes stream copying from conversion and exposes track order.

Best for

  • Media jobs involving multiple streams and mixed assembly requirements
