What it does
Smashwords is an ebook retailer focused on independent publishing. It offers DRM-free books, search filters and several delivery options.
Filter by subject, price or length when you want something more precise than a bestseller list. Smashwords explains that it is now a dedicated bookstore, with former publishing operations handled through Draft2Digital. Its free and paid books share the store, so inspect the chosen edition and delivery options rather than assuming a single format or price model.
Registration is optional, according to the About page. Its delivery routes include a Smashwords library, Dropbox and email to a reading device.
