What it does

SnapXam offers symbolic and text problem-entry modes, photo input and worked examples for algebra, calculus and related topics.

SnapXam offers symbolic, text and photo entry with examples distinguishing operations such as simplification, limits and differentiation. Its developer documentation separates image recognition, solving, simplification and factoring: recognition returns LaTeX and infix notation, while mathematical operations return an answer in those forms where available. Simplification has an include_steps option for the working. A published factoring example maps x²−5x+6 to (x−2)(x−3). The API requires a bearer key and supports LaTeX, infix or base64 image input; this is separate from the website's Premium route for students/teachers. Check recognized notation before using the result, and retain domain restrictions when a simplification cancels an expression's denominator.

Strengths

  • Symbolic, text and photo input options
  • Worked examples illustrate several solving methods

Best for

  • Learning how a mathematical operation is represented
