What it does

Snoop combines UK bank and credit-card transactions with spending comparisons, monthly category budgets and bill monitoring. Its free app covers everyday tracking. Snoop Plus adds tools such as payday-based budgets, custom categories, manual accounts and CSV exports.

Snoop needs a registered account and a connection to a supported bank or credit card. Register in the app using your legal name and mobile number, choose a security PIN, then approve the bank connection with your account provider.

Once transactions arrive, compare spending by category or merchant with the previous month. Set an overall monthly budget and separate limits for areas such as groceries. Bill monitoring highlights higher recurring charges and warns when upcoming bills may exceed the money shown in your accounts. These alerts are based on received account data rather than a guaranteed live balance.

When Plus is useful

The free service has no time limit. Snoop Plus costs £5.99 a month or £47.99 a year. It adds unlimited custom categories, manual accounts, net-worth tracking, CSV exports and a budget cycle tied to your payday. Its refund tracker can also watch for a repayment you expect and alert you if it arrives or is late.

For a review beyond the calendar month, Plus reports can filter by dates and accounts before you export the data. This is useful for comparing a holiday or renovation with ordinary household spending.

Snoop also shows switching offers, and suppliers may pay it when you move to a product through the app. Those offers are a separate decision from using the spending tracker.

Strengths

  • The free tier includes monthly and category budgets with bill monitoring.
  • Plus can align the budget to payday and export spending as CSV.
  • Refund alerts can track a repayment that has not arrived.

Watch out for

  • A supported bank or credit-card connection is required.
  • Custom categories, manual accounts and CSV export require Plus.

Best for

  • UK users who want connected spending and bill monitoring
  • People who want budget periods to follow payday
