What it does
Nimble Streamer is server software for live and on-demand delivery, with protocol handling, DVR and optional transcoding.
A production can use Nimble to receive a live feed, package it for viewers and retain a DVR window, or build playout from other streams and video files. Its documented transport options include SRT, RTMP and WebRTC WHIP/WHEP, while DeckLink and AJA support provide routes from SDI hardware.
Keep the server, management and processing costs visible in the comparison. WMSPanel supplies fleet configuration and reporting, while Live Transcoder is described as a premium add-on. A workflow needing adaptive transcoding therefore has a different set of entitlements from one that only packages an existing feed.
Strengths
- Live delivery, DVR, VOD packaging and playout address several broadcasting workflows.
Watch out for
- Live transcoding is a premium add-on.
