What it does

Soldo combines spending limits, approval requests, mobile receipt capture and accounting integrations for company expense management. UK businesses can try the paid spending plans for 30 days; the service is unavailable to sole traders.

Soldo lets a finance team allocate company funds before employees spend them. Begin by funding Soldo from the business bank account, inviting users and assigning cards. Limits can reflect the team's budget, while receipts and transaction records support the later accounting handoff.

On Plus and Unlimited, an employee can request a temporary virtual card for a purchase. In the web app, open Requests → Make a request and choose I wish to make a payment. Select the request type, describe the purchase and enter the amount and number of transactions needed, then send it for review.

Approval produces confirmation and a separate activation email. Activate the card when ready to buy: it expires seven days later. Upload a receipt or invoice after each payment. The card's spending and transaction limits make it useful for a defined purchase, such as equipment or a travel booking.

UK software plans

Plan Starting monthly price, excluding VAT Starting allowance
Standard £27 3 users, 3 cards, 1 wallet, 20 outbound transfers
Plus £39 3 users, 3 cards, 3 company wallets, 30 outbound transfers
Unlimited Quote Unlimited users, cards, company wallets and outbound transfers

Plus adds multiple currencies and automated receipt reading. The calculator adjusts the price for extra users, cards and wallets. Card issuance, cash withdrawals and other financial services can carry separate fees.

Standard and Plus have a 30-day trial; there is no permanent free plan. Applications are for incorporated businesses, with sole traders currently excluded. Soldo works alongside the company's bank account. Transaction data can be exported as Excel, CSV or PDF, or passed to supported accounting integrations.

Strengths

  • Spending requests can set both an amount and a transaction allowance before purchase.
  • Team wallets separate budgets from the main company funds.
  • Receipt capture, exports and accounting integrations support month-end work.

Watch out for

  • Temporary virtual cards expire seven days after activation.
  • Sole traders cannot currently apply.
  • Financial-service fees can add to the software subscription.

Best for

  • Incorporated businesses controlling employee and project spending
  • Finance teams connecting card purchases with receipts and accounting records
