What it does
Solscan is a public Solana explorer for transactions, accounts, tokens and programs. Basic browsing is free, while registered users can save research and obtain free or paid keys for programmatic data access.
Paste a transaction signature into Solscan and begin with Result, not the token logo. The record distinguishes success or failure and shows confirmation status, signers, fees and the slot containing the transaction. Main Actions summarizes decoded activity that would otherwise require reading individual instructions.
When a transfer is hard to follow, open TX Map. Selecting a component highlights its connections. Show token accounts expands the view to include the actual accounts holding tokens, helping distinguish an owner’s wallet from the separate token accounts used in a transfer. This is especially useful when a transaction contains several movements.
An optional Solscan account adds private labels, watchlists and other saved research tools. The explorer is independent of the Solana Foundation and is not a wallet. It cannot undo a transfer, supply a missing private key or recover funds.
Software integrations use an API key. Paid plans expand the endpoint set and capacity:
| API plan | Monthly price | Access and use |
|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Core endpoints for light, noncommercial use |
| Lite | $49 | 20 million compute units; personal and noncommercial research or prototyping |
| Level 2 | $199 | 150 million compute units; commercial application use permitted |
Lite permits up to 1,000 requests per minute but excludes some metadata and multi-item endpoints. Compute units measure query cost, so twenty million units do not mean twenty million requests. Check both the endpoint coverage and use rights when choosing a plan for a business.
Strengths
- TX Map can expose token accounts separately from their owners
- Account and program views add context beyond a single transfer
- Decoded actions reduce the need to interpret every raw instruction
Watch out for
- Free and Lite API plans exclude commercial application use
- Lite omits some metadata and multi-item queries even within its quota
Best for
- Solana users inspecting a failed or complicated transaction
- Developers choosing API capacity and use rights for a specific project
