What it does
Luminance HDR is a GPL HDR imaging suite with exposure merging, tone-mapping operators, batch processing and a command-line interface.
Luminance HDR separates creating the HDR image from making a tone-mapped image for ordinary displays. After merging the source exposures, choose a tone-mapping operator, set the output size and update the preview; saved settings can be reused for similar scenes or batch work. Preview size is consequential here. The manual says the Mantiuk and Fattal operators can change their result with image size, so a small preview is not always a reliable picture of the final render. For those operators it recommends previewing a selected region. Keep that distinction in mind when comparing looks before saving a JPEG or TIFF.
