What it does

Fortune City turns personal income and expense entries into progress in a simulated city on Android and iPhone. Basic expense tracking is free, while a SPARKFUL subscription adds advanced analysis and budgeting. You can use the app without logging in; an optional account enables backup.

Tap + New Record to log money coming in or going out. Income uses the gold piggy-bank category; tags can distinguish a salary payment from a bonus. Then use the main page's pie-chart icon to open Categories and select the period you want to inspect. The search icon finds a particular item or expense.

On a day with nothing to enter, pull up the accounting sheet and tap No Expenses. That preserves the tracking streak without inventing a purchase.

What the subscription adds

SPARKFUL includes trend reports, expense review, data export and weekly, monthly or yearly budgets. For a category allowance, open Budget Settings, tap the plus icon, choose a period, then enter an amount and category. Weekly and monthly plans follow the start dates set in the app, so a month can run from the 15th to the 14th.

The US iPhone storefront lists SPARKFUL at US$7.99 monthly or US$69.99 annually. Logging in is optional even for a trial or subscription. For a logged-in account, backup controls are under the avatar > gear icon > Tap to back up data.

  • Categories are capped at 30, including the presets; preset categories cannot be deleted.
