What it does
Viscosity is an OpenVPN client for macOS and Windows with graphical configuration, connection monitoring, selective DNS routing and script hooks.
Viscosity is useful when the VPN profile is available but you want more visibility and control over the client. Its interface exposes connection details and DNS choices, including sending all lookups through the VPN or only those for selected domains. That can matter when internal work domains and ordinary internet browsing need different resolvers.
The client can also trigger scripts as connection state changes. You still need a workplace, home or provider endpoint and its configuration; Viscosity does not supply that service. The official page identifies macOS and Windows as its client platforms.
Strengths
- Selective DNS handling
