What it does

Spline is a browser-based 3D editor for modelling, materials, animation and interactive scenes. Objects can change state in response to events, while shared files let collaborators work on the same design. Free access includes watermarked web exports; paid annual plans add output options and remove the watermark.

A hover effect can begin with two states of one object. Select the object, create an additional state, add a Mouse Hover event and attach a Transition action. Choose the target object and states in the event controls. When the pointer leaves, the hover event reverses the transition to the original state.

Transition settings control duration and delay, with curves such as Linear, Bezier and Spring. A sequence can repeat a chosen number of times or indefinitely, and Cycle moves back and forth between its states. These controls make a small interaction adjustable without building a separate animation for every timing change.

Plan Access and output choices
Free Watermarked web exports
Hobby Annual per-seat subscription; removes the web watermark and adds higher-resolution image output
Pro Annual per-seat subscription; adds video export, application delivery options and API-related features
Max Annual per-seat subscription
Enterprise Required for self-hosted export when a scene is intended for independent hosting

Strengths

  • Object states and transition curves provide editable interaction timing.
  • Mouse Hover reverses its transition when the pointer leaves.

Watch out for

  • Free web exports carry a watermark.
  • Self-hosted export requires Enterprise access.

Best for

  • Interactive 3D product details on websites
