What it does

Spryker supports enterprise commerce through configurable catalog, checkout, marketplace, and business workflows. Its product model distinguishes the searchable parent product from the concrete variant that a customer purchases.

Even a product without visible choices needs a concrete record for its stock. Spryker's abstract product holds shared catalog information; concrete products are the variants customers buy. A value set on a concrete product overrides its parent, while an unset value inherits the parent's value. Decide how sizes and colors should be grouped before importing the range. Storefront search shows the abstract product, and stock belongs to its concrete variants.

Product Availability Display can show a status or quantity on product pages and in carts. It is disabled by default and must be enabled in code. Checkout checks the requested amount against availability; a never-out-of-stock item shows Available without a quantity. The display does not provide per-warehouse stock to shoppers or handle backorders and preorders.

For administration, an existing user or developer creates and activates your Back Office account. Sign in with its email and password, or use the organization's configured single sign-on route.

Strengths

  • Product inheritance separates shared information from variant-specific values
  • Availability can be shown as an indicator or with quantities

Watch out for

  • Product Availability Display needs code configuration and is off by default
  • Availability display does not cover backorders, preorders, or shopper-facing warehouse quantities

Best for

  • Commerce teams modeling complex variant catalogs with an implementation partner
