What it does
Squad provides Nigerian businesses with virtual accounts, payment links, checkout integrations, point-of-sale tools and outgoing transfers. Its merchant account has no signup charge, but payment processing is paid. Identity checks and, for registered businesses, company documents are required before collection.
After Squad approves the account checks, the default virtual-account route assigns a number to share with customers. Download the personalized account decal from the dashboard for display at a shop, or share the details online. Incoming transfers receive confirmation and appear in payment monitoring, so a cashier can match a receipt to the sale. The product describes settlement to the business's bank account on the next business day.
For several outlets, the virtual-account API can create separate numbers so funds can be traced to the relevant outlet or customer. A business integrating its checkout can instead use the gateway, while outgoing transfers have their own service. Choose the collection route around how the customer places and pays for an order.
Local charges
Squad's posted Nigerian schedule lists 1.2% for local payment-link transactions, capped at NGN1,500, and 0.25% for virtual-account receipts, capped at NGN1,000. Neither has a setup charge. Domestic transfers are listed from NGN8 to NGN40, depending on the transfer. International payment links have a different schedule; confirm that rate and its currency before accepting overseas payments.
To register, enter the owner's name, email and business details, then supply the requested identity information. Squad names a Bank Verification Number or National Identification Number and company-registration documents for registered businesses. Its developer area provides a separate sandbox for preparing an integration before live payment collection.
