What it does
StarNet Software provides StarNet2 star removal and DeepSNR noise reduction through host-application modules, plug-ins and command-line tools.
Choose the host module or command-line build that fits the existing astronomy workflow. In the documented StarNet2 2.6.2 CLI, recommended inputs are TIFF, PNG or supported FITS image HDUs; non-FITS input must be 8- or 16-bit grayscale/RGB without alpha. It can write a starless result, a difference mask and an unscreen star layer. Linear FITS handling needs care: values above the documented normalized range can be clipped, and the outputs cannot recover discarded highlights. FITS export creates a new single-image file and does not copy every source HDU. Inspect star removal and reconstruction boundaries before recombining layers. DeepSNR is a separate operation within the same family and expects suitable calibrated, integrated data.
