What it does
Startpage offers web search and an Anonymous View option for opening result websites through its proxy. It states that it delivers results without retaining personal search data or building user profiles.
Startpage offers Anonymous View below individual search results. Selecting Visit in Anonymous View opens that result through its proxy, instead of sending the browser directly to the destination. The about page describes that route as available without an account or fees on desktop or mobile.
Startpage says it delivers unprofiled results and does not store personal search data. Anonymous View remains a selected browsing route: ordinary links opened outside it do not automatically receive the same proxy treatment.
Strengths
- Anonymous View provides an optional proxy route for result pages.
- Search is presented without personal profiling.
Best for
- People who want a proxy-view option beside web search results
