What it does
Stellar Expert combines a Stellar explorer with free public data for assets, account labels and ledger history. Its Open API works without authentication, and the explorer code is available under the MIT license.
Stellar Expert is useful when a report needs to match a date with a precise point in Stellar history. Choose public or testnet, then supply a Unix timestamp or a standard date-time string to the sequence-from-timestamp lookup. It returns the latest ledger closed at or before that time. The reverse lookup turns a ledger sequence into its closing time. Requests before available history or in the future can return no matching ledger.
Asset queries need the issuer as well as the code. The supply lookup returns the amount issued, while holder results omit addresses with a zero balance. A high activity rating reflects on-chain usage indicators; it is not an assessment of an issuer’s ability to redeem an asset.
The Open API is free and needs no account or key. Applications should cache repeated answers and handle HTTP 429 rate-limit responses rather than assume unlimited capacity.
For teams working on the interface itself, the MIT-licensed frontend repository includes development and production-build instructions. Its directory also provides a route to request a service-account or issuer listing and to report fraudulent Stellar-related sites. Those contributions help give raw addresses context without turning a label into proof of legitimacy.
Strengths
- Ledger-time queries work in both directions
- Asset queries distinguish issuers that use the same code
- Directory filters support address lists, names and account tags
Watch out for
- Date lookups cannot resolve times outside the available ledger history
- Asset ratings describe activity, not issuer creditworthiness
Best for
- Developers aligning Stellar records with a report’s cutoff time
- Researchers comparing an asset’s supply and nonzero holders
