What it does
Stockholmskällan brings together photographs, films, maps and other historical sources from Stockholm institutions. Geographic references and thematic articles connect the material with the city’s places and communities.
Search a place, person or event, then choose Foto and a date range. Results can appear as a list or on a map, with an option to include records that lack a date. The map comparison also places older maps alongside the present city.
The photograph “Gårdshuset, Sibyllegatan 61-63” identifies Barbro Carlsson, the year 1961 and Stockholm City Museum’s photo number Fö 100. Its record carries CC BY permission and directs high-resolution requests to the museum. Include the record link when making that enquiry.
Read Rättigheter on each item. CC BY allows reuse and alteration with creator credit; CC BY-NC adds a non-commercial restriction. The record also explains which photographer, year and holding institution to cite. Thematic articles can connect a photograph with maps, newspaper reports and other evidence from the same period.
Strengths
- Date filters and map views support research around a specific street or period.
- Image records identify the creator, holding institution and reuse licence.
Watch out for
- Some items have non-commercial licences.
- High-resolution photographs may require a request to the holding institution.
Best for
- Editors and educators illustrating Stockholm history
