What it does
Stratum, formerly Authenticator Pro, is an open-source authenticator with offline operation, encrypted backups, token imports and category organization.
Stratum makes token portability a central feature, with exports, encrypted backups and imports from other apps. Set a backup password and store the backup deliberately before adding every service. Its Wear OS companion does not need a persistent phone connection after synchronization. The official FAQ identifies the actual limits: sync is one-way, so HOTP is unsupported on the watch, and F-Droid builds omit the proprietary Wear OS sync component.
Strengths
- Offline operation and exportable token records
Watch out for
- Wear OS does not support HOTP
- F-Droid builds omit Wear OS synchronization
Best for
- Android users who want an offline authenticator with migration options
