What it does
Stripe provides online payment processing, checkout components, billing and invoicing tools for businesses in supported markets, including Slovenia. You can share a payment link, embed a checkout form or build a more customized payment screen. Standard payment processing has transaction fees and requires an activated business account.
Stripe's Checkout options range from a page hosted by Stripe to an embedded form and custom Elements components. A hosted checkout leaves less of the payment interface for your team to maintain; Elements gives more control over its layout. Payment Links provide a route for selling without building a checkout into a website.
Slovenia payment fees
Standard Payments has no setup or monthly fee. For a Slovenian business, published card rates are:
| Card type | Fee per payment |
|---|---|
| Standard European Economic Area card | 1.5% + €0.25 |
| Premium European Economic Area card | 2.8% + €0.25 |
| UK card | 2.5% + €0.25 |
| Other international card | 3.15% + €0.25 |
Currency conversion adds 2% where required. Checkout and Payment Links are included with Payments. Separate products have their own charges, such as Invoicing Starter at 0.4% per paid invoice and usage-based Billing at 0.7% of billing volume.
From test checkout to bank payout
Create a Stripe account, use its sandbox to prepare the payment flow, then complete the business details in the Dashboard to activate live payments. Stripe asks about the business, its products and the people connected to the account. The merchant's location matters: customer reach and the countries where a business can open an account are different questions.
Add the receiving bank account in Payout settings. Stripe's settlement table lists seven calendar days initially and three business days subsequently for Slovenia; settlement means funds becoming available in Stripe, not arrival in your bank. The first payout typically takes 7 to 14 days, depending on the business and risk profile. Later transfers follow the account's payout schedule, with expected deposit dates shown in the Dashboard.
