What it does
Summ, formerly Crypto Tax Calculator, imports crypto activity and helps categorize transactions before preparing tax reports. Free accounts can import and review records and track a portfolio. Downloading reports from your own history requires an active paid subscription, with report choices depending on country and plan.
Start by importing the full transaction history from your exchanges and wallets, then review the categories and any adjustments before generating a report. An accountant can be invited into the web app to help reconcile those records.
Produce a report from your own records
- Open Reports and select the financial year or a custom date range.
- Check the country, inventory method and relevant report settings.
- Choose Download Report and select an available CSV or PDF report.
- Review the result with the transaction history and any corrections you made.
Sample reports demonstrate the format; they do not contain your account's history. The Audit Transaction Report records transaction sources and modifications. Summ's long-term and short-term figures do not apply long-term capital-gains discounts automatically.
Annual personal subscriptions
Choose your country to see the available report formats and confirm the applicable plan price.
| Plan | Annual price | Listed transaction allowance |
|---|---|---|
| Rookie | $49 | 100 |
| Hobbyist | $99 | 1,000 |
| Investor | $249 | 10,000 |
| Trader | $499 | 100,000; larger options are available |
An annual subscription covers reports for supported historical years back to 2013, rather than charging separately for each tax year. Free access continues for importing, categorization and portfolio tracking. Tax reports, tax-loss tools and higher support levels require the appropriate paid plan.
Strengths
- An accountant can collaborate on the imported records inside the web app.
- One annual subscription covers multiple historical tax years.
Watch out for
- Report formats and advanced reports vary by country and paid tier.
- Long-term capital-gains discounts are not automatically deducted from the report figures.
Best for
- Crypto users reconciling exchange and wallet activity before sharing reports with an accountant
