What it does
SunEarthTools combines solar-position calculations, photovoltaic payback, emissions estimates and geographic measurement tools.
SunEarthTools separates solar position from photovoltaic payback and map measurements. For a sun-path study, choose a map location, date/time and local time zone, checking the chosen date's daylight-saving setting, then Execute. Polar/Cartesian charts, tables, annual paths, shadows and a PDF option show different views. Azimuth uses true north at 0° and south at 180°, so a magnetic compass needs local declination considered. The sunrise/sunset model uses solar altitude −0.833°, and its daylight calculation assumes site altitude 0 m. The page cites Michalsky's approximate 1950–2050 solar-position algorithm and notes that atmospheric conditions change observed positions. Saving favourite locations requires login.
