What it does

Superior Type publishes Raptor, Thaw, Final, Heaven and other retail families for branding and digital products. It also offers custom type and evaluation packages containing desktop, web and variable fonts.

Raptor V2 lists Latin and Cyrillic support, with static styles and a variable font. Its Details section shows alternate a, l and r forms, while the feature list includes tabular figures, oldstyle figures and a slashed zero. Compare the required scripts and number styles before choosing among the related Raptor V1, V2 and V3 designs.

On Trials, select individual families or Select All Fonts, enter a name and email, and accept the trial terms. The emailed ZIP includes desktop, web and variable formats. Trial rights cover internal evaluation and client mockups, but exclude published work and final deliverables. The separate student licence is discounted and permits commercial work.

Production orders ask for the licence and font choices, then separate licence-contact and invoice details. Online payment leads to an immediate ZIP download; bank-transfer orders receive a download link after payment confirmation. Keep a local copy because indefinite re-download access is not guaranteed. Desktop rights need extensions for logos, merchandise and social channels with more than 30,000 combined followers; web and app/game embedding are separate licences.

Strengths

  • Provides script, stylistic-set and numeral-feature information on family pages.
  • Includes variable and web formats in evaluation packages.
  • Offers a student licence that permits commercial work.

Watch out for

  • Trials cannot be used in published or final projects.
  • Logos, merchandise and larger social audiences need desktop extensions.
  • Indefinite re-download access is not guaranteed.

Best for

  • Brands comparing Latin and Cyrillic type
  • Teams evaluating static and variable fonts in their own layouts
