What it does

Supertype publishes retail families including Adapt, Cy, Realist, Lemon and Profile and designs custom corporate fonts. Blinker is a separate free family released under the SIL Open Font License.

Cy’s Text, Mono, Curly and Glitch releases show several roles around a related design direction. Realist offers narrow, standard and wide companions, while Adapt combines static and variable fonts. Use those branches to choose for a paragraph, technical label or promotional heading before assembling the licensed package. Commissioned corporate projects are presented separately from the retail catalog.

Blinker provides a free starting point for medium and large text. Its rounded-square construction has low contrast, while the separate Headline style uses tighter spacing and a larger lowercase height. The family page links to Google Fonts and Supertype’s public repository. The repository’s fonts_ttf folder contains ready-to-use TrueType files, including a variable font; Headline is a separate design.

Paid retail rights continue without a time limit after payment, within the purchased desktop, pageview, app or ebook allowances. The shop’s terms restrict its paid offer to business users and describe download availability after the order details and payment method are supplied. Blinker’s open licence is separate, so use its own terms when sharing or modifying that free family.

Strengths

  • Offers related width and role companions across several families.
  • Blinker includes static and variable TrueType files in a public repository.
  • Retail licences have no time limit within the purchased usage scope.

Watch out for

  • The paid retail shop is intended for business users.
  • Additional users, traffic or embedded titles can require more coverage.

Best for

  • Brands comparing related typography roles
