What it does

Quick Share transfers files and folders between nearby Android devices and Windows computers, with device visibility and receiving approval controls.

Set the receiving device’s visibility, select files or folders on the PC, and choose the nearby destination. Compare the PIN when one appears, then accept the request; Windows saves received files in Downloads/Quick Share. Transfers between your devices signed into the same Google Account are accepted automatically. Requirements include Android 6 or later and 64-bit Windows 10 or later; ARM PCs need Windows 11. Keep Bluetooth on and both devices on the same reachable network within about five meters. Isolated office Wi-Fi can block sharing. Samsung PCs use Samsung’s Quick Share app, and a Google Account enables all options in Google’s Windows app.

Strengths

  • Supports files and folders from Windows
  • Visibility can be limited to contacts or your own devices

Watch out for

  • A Google Account is needed to access all Windows options
