What it does
SWAYAM brings together university courses across engineering, humanities, health, management, architecture and science.
Start with the subject branch rather than a promise of credit. SWAYAM groups academic and professional learning in one catalogue, including architecture and management as well as science. Compare a self-paced course with the current scheduled offerings so that the timing fits your study. NPTEL is a contributing specialist initiative, not another name for the whole SWAYAM platform.
Learning is free. For a certificate, the FAQ describes weekly assignments, separate exam registration/payment and a proctored exam at a designated centre. Self-paced courses do not issue certificates. Check pass criteria, exam location and your college’s credit policy before enrolling for a qualification.
Watch out for
- Certification normally requires assignments and a separately paid proctored exam; credit transfer depends on the receiving institution
